“The minute you start your shoreside training, you realize that DCL is something more. Our values are real. They go way back to when Walt Disney first used his pencil to make children smile. Today, we honor his legacy in the work we do. Show me another cruise line that can be proud of that.”
A Crew Member’s first days with Disney Cruise Line begin in Orlando, Florida, at a two-day orientation called “Traditions.” In addition to providing a rich history of the Walt Disney Company, the orientation is designed to immerse our Crew in Disney’s high commitment to service, safety guidelines, work expectations, and how to have a successful experience working and living aboard our ships.
At the end of Traditions, our Crew begins their shipboard training, which consists of several classes including shipboard orientation. This involves actual on-the-job training to help Crew Members learn about their new role. At the end of the training cruise, our Crew is better prepared to interact confidently with Guests and other Crew Members, while getting used to shipboard culture, and becoming a member of the DCL family.
